ROCKVILLE, Md. - The Mechanical Contracting Education & Research Foundation (MCERF), a division of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA), allocated funds to provide free science curriculum, materials, and methodologies related to plumbing and HVACR systems to middle and high school teachers as part of the National Foundation for Energy Education's HVACR Professionals in the Classroom program.

Teachers can use the kits to demonstrate HVACR science, such as plumbing physics - the practical applications of fluid dynamics. This lesson will educate students about plumbing's role in society, as well as available career opportunities. The series of kits is scheduled for release in September, and it is anticipated that more than 500 teachers and 150,000 students will use the program during fall 2004.

According to MCERF president Robert W. FitzGerald, "These education programs truly complement the foundation's efforts to develop and shape the human resources our industry will need in the not-so-distant future." For more information, contact Dennis Langley at dlangley@mcaa.org.
