MARS, Pa. - The Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) will be hosting a Pennsylvania state code seminar on Sept. 2, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Cranberry Township, Pa.

The seminar will address the following topics:

  • Smoke detectors: When, what type are needed for your job?

  • When do we need a permit?

  • Who gets and pays for the permit - contractor or homeowner?

  • When are Manual J and Manual D required?

  • Will all municipalities enforce the code themselves or get a third party involved?

  • Are any municipalities making the code tougher?

    The seminar will be presented by Certified Code Officials Don Surrena and Dave Buskirk. The cost is $110 for ACCA members or $160 for nonmembers. Attendees are required to have the 2003 Mechanical Code Book (O3 IMC Soft) in class. Each can be purchased for $60. Other training materials and lunch are included.
