The North Texas Chapter of the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (NTACCA) is busy looking for funding for its annual "Beat the Heat" program, where low-income and elderly homeowners in the Dallas/Fort Worth area are given free repair services to existing cooling equipment or the installation of new window units.

"With summer around the corner, the Community Services Foundation (CSF) is busy soliciting donors to fund its fifth annual "Beat the Heat" program," according to Jose Gonzalez, NTACCA chapter member and chairman of the program.

In 2003, a generous donation from Mike Douglas and FarmTek Inc. of Wylie, Texas, enabled CSF to provide window units for 13 homeowners as well as a $200 credit on each one's utility bill. Texas Regional Bancshares in McAllen, Texas, and Colonial Savings in Fort Worth have kicked off the 2004 program with generous donations as well.

If you'd like to donate or volunteer to help, contact NTACCA at 800-260-8041 or e-mail accantx@swbell.net.
