PHOENIX - Members of the Air Conditioning Contractors of America - Arizona Chapter (ACCA-AZ) pitched in to help 75 families stay cool this summer. The 15th Annual Evaporative Cooler Start Up community service program was held on Saturday, March 12.

The program was originated by the Foundation for Senior Living and the City of Phoenix Water Conservation Department. ACCA-AZ and Heat Pump Council members, and their technicians, donated a day of their time and expertise to clean up and repair evaporative coolers for low-income senior homeowners. With this support, these families have the necessary cooling for when the hot Arizona summer arrives.

The volunteers, including HVAC students from Gateway Community College, replaced belts, tubing, drains, and cooler pads, and performed general cleanup and startup of the units. The members also donated new evaporative coolers, pads, belts, tubing, and other materials necessary to make the program a success.
