ST. LOUIS — Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson, has been selected as the key technology provider for Nordyne’s new line of ultra-high efficiency central air conditioners and heat pumps that will be sold under the Maytag, Frigidaire, Tappan, and Westinghouse brand names. Nordyne launched the new lineup of cooling systems in early July.

The two companies worked closely together on the design of the systems. Nordyne’s air conditioner is rated at 16 SEER and the heat pump is rated at 15-plus SEER. Both units use R-410A. To achieve these SEER ratings, each system uses the new Copeland Scroll™ UltraTech compressor, Emerson’s next-generation two-stage scroll compressor.

The ultra-high-efficiency systems made by Nordyne also include Emerson’s Comfort Alert™ diagnostics module to help analyze electrical problems and system-related faults. In addition, Nordyne recommends that its dealers carry White-Rodgers Comfort-Set® digital thermostats, another Emerson product. Comfort Alert has been designed to work with the Comfort-Set digital thermostat. To complete the system, Nordyne also selected refrigerant flow and filter-drier devices made by Emerson Climate Technologies’ Flow Controls division.
