CINCINNATI — Excellence Commitment LLC has announced the launch of “Contractor Co-Opetition.” According to the contractor group, phase one will embark on a “hands-on approach” to develop solutions to challenges faced by HVACR organizations.

Defined as a “business strategy based on combining cooperation and competition,” the organization says that the Contractor Co-opetition program will include:

  • An audit of issues facing companies and opportunities that are missed;

  • A continual benchmarking of operational, financial, and sales measurements;

  • Two on-site employee integration sessions with a focus on service, installation, sales and marketing, and general administration;

  • Two regional integration sessions with a focus on cooperating, competing, and support; and

  • Representation with one residential/light commercial and one commercial/industrial/mechanical HVACR contractor participant in each metropolitan area.

    According to the organization, “The successes of Co-opetition have been validated in the Fortune 500 firms of Microsoft, Apple, Bear, Stearns & Co., Kaiser Permanente, Pepsico, United Aluminum, American Express, and the list goes on and on.

    “Developed during WWII and perfected in 1997 by Adam M. Brandenburger and Barry J. Nalebuff, the beauty of Co-opetition is that it integrates a winning support system throughout an entire organization. The Co-opetition will encompass many ‘players’ including contractors, customers, suppliers, competitors, and complimentors (a product/service that adds value to your product/service).”
