PHOENIX — Universal Technical Institute (UTI) will invest $54.2 million to expand its facilities across the country, including relocating its corporate headquarters and hiring 100 instructors within the next two months. According to UTI, the plan was put into action in order to meet the industry’s demand for professional service technicians.

UTI’s corporate headquarters, which will remain in Phoenix, will move about six miles north of its existing 30,000-square-foot location to one that has 42,000 square feet of space. The move-in date for the new main office, which represents a $6.5 million investment, is expected to be in November 2003. The Phoenix campus will be moved from a space with 190,000 square feet into a 260,000-square-foot building on 25 acres of land in Avondale. The new location represents a $21 million investment with a move-in date of May 2004.

Several other UTI programs have expanded recently, including locations in Glendale Heights, Ill., and Houston.
