Changes have been made to the MaxEâ„¢ water-cooled screw chiller. Upgrades to the unit's Frick compressors have improved efficiency by more than 3 percent for maximum energy savings at design and off-design conditions, the manufacturer says. The chiller's capacity-control slide valve does not create gas flow restriction, due to centrifugal compressor prerotation vane capacity control, the company states. The chiller uses R-134a. The OptiViewâ„¢ control center offers intuitive navigation and a built-in interface that communicates with most building automation systems. Its full-screen display allows onboard trending of up to six different values, selected from more than 80 items. The chiller can be used in a variety of high-head cooling requirement applications, including brine cooling and thermal storage.
