The SuperMax all-welded plate heat exchanger is designed as an alternative to shell-and-tube heat exchangers in elevated pressure and temperature applications. The unit is particularly suited to applications having a large flow imbalance, including gas or vapor condensers and economizers, for pressures up to 1,015 psig (70 barg) and at temperatures up to 1,000 degrees F (537 degrees C) for standard range units, the manufacturer states. With alternating channels for hot and cold media, the unit can be configured to provide true countercurrent or cocurrent flow. The line of heat exchangers offers two different diameters of circular plates. Nozzle sizes up to 12 inches (300 mm) can be accommodated on the shell side of the exchanger, offering higher steam and liquid flow rates, the company says. Nozzles on the plate side can be up to 4 inches (100 mm).
