Des Plaines, Ill. - To assist technicians with preparing to take the North American Technician Excellence (NATE) series of exams, the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES) has released two NATE exam review presentations on CD. The Core Service Review and Air Conditioning Service Review presentations are intended for technicians utilizing Microsoft PowerPoint software.

Topics covered on the Core Service Review CD include: heat transfer and total comfort (temperature and humidity measurement, total comfort, and basic science); electrical (basic electricity, AC motors, electrical diagrams, and electrical meters); soft skills (communication with customers, mathematics, interpersonal relations, and personal ethics and conduct); safety (handling hazardous materials, personal safety, electrical safety, brazing and soldering safety, and handling of refrigerants); and tools (hand tools, leak detection tools, and brazing and soldering equipment).

Topics covered on the Air Conditioning Service Review CD include: fabricating copper tubing; installing condensing units, installing packaged units and indoor equipment; evacuation and charging; leak checking and detection; installing accessories; field wiring; start-up and check-out; refrigerant circuit tools; recovery and recycling machines; duct fabrication equipment; duct installation; airflow measurements; air balancing; preventive maintenance; and diagnostics.
