NOVI, MI — The Trane Co. held an open house at its new district office in suburban Detroit. The new 22,000-square-foot facility officially opened in May 2002. A number of Detroit-area Trane dealers and contractors were on hand for tours of the facility and demonstrations of Trane building controls.

Kevin Rucinski, systems sales engineer, was one of the “tour guides,” showing people around the state-of-the-art building, which includes a training center that can accommodate up to 60 people. Rucinski is part of the 26-member new equipment sales department.

The other departments at the Novi office include a finance department, controls group, contracting solutions, and service department. There are a total of 103 employees at the Novi location.

One of the employees from the Controls Group, Douglas Miller, building automation systems (BAS) account manager, detailed some of Trane’s building automation systems in one of the demonstration rooms. Miller talked about the functions of the company’s Building Control Unit, the Configurable AHU Controller (AH451), and the Graphical Programmable Controller (MP581). He also pointed out the Web server module, which allows Web users to troubleshoot a BAS via the Internet.
