The Bradford White Corp. recently announced the recipients of its 2003 scholarship awards during the "Celebration of Youth" opening session of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors-National Association's annual convention in Las Vegas.

Ted Sikorski, vice president of marketing of Bradford White, presented $3,500 in industry scholarships to the winners. The winners, selected by the PHCC National Auxiliary scholarship committee, will use the funds to further their education in plumbing-heating-cooling (p-h-c)-related fields.

The winners included second place finisher Tom McGuine, Wales, Wis., a journeyman plumber with the Wisconsin Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors.

The Bradford White Corp. sponsors scholarship awards to students enrolled in a plumbing-heating-cooling (p-h-c)-related major at an accredited college or university or are presently working full-time in a approved plumbing or HVAC apprenticeship program for a licensed plumber or HVAC contractor who is a PHCC member.

Sikorski also presented two checks during the opening ceremonies:

  • $7,500 to PHCC for scholarships to be awarded to students enrolled in a PHCC apprenticeship program; and

  • $7,500 to the PHCC National Auxiliary for the college scholarship fund.

Nick Guiffre, Bradford White executive vice president, also participated in PHCC's opening ceremonies by presenting "state of the industry" remarks.
