FALLS CHURCH, Va. - The Construction Contractor's Alliance (CCA), an enhanced service group of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors - National Association, discussed company innovations during two "Contractor Spotlight" presentations at CCA's meeting held in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

Commercial contractor Les DenHerder of HPS Mechanical, Bakersfield, Calif., explained how he implemented and maintains a paperless office by scanning all documents and storing them electronically. The documents include plans, specs, bids, and all project documents.

Residential contractor Chris McGinnis of Tucson Plumbing, Tucson, Ariz., described the three-part business model he has in place for satellite locations, materials management, and time management.

CCA members also spent time at the meeting identifying and addressing industry trends that were affecting their businesses, such as lack of manpower, builder consolidation, and rising insurance costs. The next CCA meeting will be held in San Francisco March 10-12, 2004.
