Contractors from Utah and New Mexico were elected to positions with the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association (SMACNA).

Stephen Richards, of Richards Sheet Metal Works Inc., Ogden, Utah, was elected to SMACNA's board of directors. Meanwhile, Keith Wilson, of Miller Bonded Inc., Albuquerque, N.M., was elected to SMACNA's board of directors to serve as secretary/treasurer.

Each contractor's term began at the close of the association's 60th annual convention, held recently in Washington.

Richards is glad to participate in SMACNA.

"I feel that service to our industry is important for protecting and advancing the industry, as well as being personally rewarding," he said.

Currently a chapter councilor on SMACNA's Council of Chapter Representatives, Richards served as a member of the Director Nominating Committee, the Custom Fabricating and Manufacturers Council Steering Committee, the Director Nominating Committee, and the FMA Liaison Task Force.

Richards is a member of the Sheet Metal Contractors Association of Utah's board of directors, as well as trustee to the Pension Fund and chairman of the Health and Welfare Committee. Richards also served as president of the Bid Depository Board of Governors. In his community, he is an active member of the Board of Enable Industries, an agency providing skill training and employment for disabled persons. He is past chairman of that organization.

Wilson, on the other hand, will act as officer to the Products and Programs Coordinating Committee. In addition, he is chairman of the Investment Committee and the Budget and Finance Committee, as well as a member of the Employee's Pension Plan Trust, High-Performing Contractor Task Force, and the National Energy Management Institute Marketing Task Force.
