ARLINGTON, Va. — The Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) announced its participation in the U.S. International Trade Commission’s (ITC’s) steel tariff mid-point review investigation. The ITC will administer a questionnaire to collect evidence on how the steel tariff is affecting steel-consuming industries.

The data will help the ITC to assess how the tariff has had an impact on steel prices and availability, steel consumption, profitability, international competitiveness, and shifts in steel-consuming patterns.

ARI will help the ITC by forwarding the questionnaire to its members. ARI members are encouraged to document their experiences by participating in the questionnaire and submitting testimony for a steel-consuming industries hearing scheduled for June 19, 2003.

Any individual or organization wishing to submit a written statement for record should do so by June 27. The ITC will submit its report to the president and Congress by Sept. 20, 2003.

For more information, contact Deborah Miller, ARI’s vice president of government and international affairs, at demiller@ari.org, or Julie McCombs, ARI’s director of international affairs, at jmccombs@ari.org.
