Company Introduces ‘Heavy Duty Helping’

BROOKFIELD, Wis. — Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation has introduced a charitable endeavor called “Heavy Duty Helping.” According to the company, the project was designed to give tradespeople an opportunity to give back to their community. “Heavy Duty Helping” will look to generate both volunteers and financial support for Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the country.

In addition, Milwaukee Electric Tool has partnered with the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) to expose a wider audience to the program and to create an opportunity for active and retired NFL players to get involved. The program will bring players to Habitat For Humanity work sites where they can meet volunteers and lend a hand in construction.

Heavy Duty Helping held its inaugural event at the 2003 Jimmy Carter Work Project for Habit for Humanity. The event featured tradespeople and retired NFL players working together at the Anniston, Ala., site on June 9 and the LaGrange, Ga., site on June 10. Milwaukee Electric Tool donated tools for the project. This is in addition to the $2.5 million in product, vehicular, and financial contributions the company has made since 1993.

To support the program further, the company, along with its participating distributors, will hold fundraising and volunteer recruitment efforts to support local Habitat for Humanity programs. Milwaukee Electric Tool will reach out to vocational and technical programs to enlist students to participate in Heavy Duty Helping. It is expected that Heavy Duty Helping will participate in Habitat for Humanity builds in 10 to 15 markets across the United States this year.
