BENTONVILLE, Ark. — In a filing June 9 with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is investigating the sale of 22 refrigerant products to non-licensed individuals. The filing noted the Clean Air Act restricts sales of some refrigerant products only to those who are properly licensed. The filing did not specify the products in question or the location.

The filing did indicate that Wal-Mart would be willing to pay a $400,000 civil penalty and enter a consent decree with the federal government in exchange for settling the allegations without admitting any wrongdoing or violations.
