The Series WV-DV direct-vent, cast iron, oil-fired boiler for residential hot water systems is ideal for simple installations where a chimney is not available or where the existing chimney is no longer safe to use, the company states. The sealed combustion boiler can also be used for converting heating systems in houses with electric baseboards or a heat pump. According to the manufacturer, direct venting requires only an 8-inch hole. A venting components kit includes vent termination, burner termination, and flexible, concentric, exhaust vent pipe in choices of 10-, 15-, or 20-foot lengths. The boiler is available with a choice of Riello BF5 or Beckett AFII high-efficiency, sealed combustion, flame-retention burners. With AFUE ratings of 85% or higher, the units with the firing rates of 0.75 GPH as well as with 0.85 GPH have received the Energy Star® rating, the company says.
