The “OAM Purger” is designed to remove oil, acid, and moisture from a chiller’s refrigerant charge. It removes oil and automatically returns it to the chiller’s oil sump where it belongs, says the company. The manufacturer says that the purger has no effect on chiller operation and that operation of the unit is achieved without an ejector pump, via a patent-pending process using gravity, heat, and pressure. The purger retrofits to any existing low-pressure centrifugal or screw chiller, the company says. Installation consists of three 1/4-inch OD copper line connections and a 120-V power supply.
