CHICAGO, IL — The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) announced the appointments of two Midwest businesspeople to key executive positions in the organization. The announcement was made at a late June convention in Chicago.

John P. Kelly, RPA, executive vice president for the Ryan Companies U.S. Inc., Minneapolis, MN, was sworn in as BOMA president-elect. Since 1976, Kelly has been involved at all levels of the organization in both BOMA/Minneapolis and BOMA/St. Paul.

“Over the years, John has played an important part in the development of our strategic plan, which has created a new culture, one of true long-range planning and visioning,” said BOMA International president Larry F. Soehren.

Richard D. Purtell, RPA, assistant vice president of Lowe Enterprises, Cincinnati, OH, was sworn in as secretary-treasurer-elect. Purtell served as president of BOMA/Greater Cincinnati in 1990 and 1991 and as president of BOMA/Ohio in 1994 and 1995.

“Dick’s 18 years of professional experience has equipped him with the knowledge to guide BOMA’s future development, financial viability, and longevity,” added Soehren.
