• Ratcliffs Severn, Ltd. (Richmond Hill, ON, Canada), and Wolverine Ratcliffs Inc. (WRI) (Fergus, ON, Canada), a majority-owned joint entity of Wolverine Tube (Hunstville, AL), have announced the consolidation of their strip manufacturing capabilities into WRI’s facility in Fergus. This will result in the closure of Ratcliffs Severn’s facility in Richmond Hill, which will be completed by the third quarter of 2001. Wolverine Tube provides copper and copper alloy tube, fabricated products, brazing alloys, fluxes, and lead-free solder to its customers.
  • Teletrol Systems (Manchester, NH) has honored the top performers among its Authorized Systems Integrators for the year 2000. The Teletrol Partnership Award was presented to the Systems Integrators who contribute the most to Teletrol’s growth and good reputation:

    The four recipients of the Top Sales Award, which is presented to the Systems Integrators with the highest Teletrol Sales in their region, are:

    — Encompass Pacific Rim Mechanical (San Diego, CA); and

    — MR Engineering (Seoul, Korea).

    The Systems Integrator of the Year for 2000, Teletrol’s highest honor, was awarded to the Systems Integrator with the highest overall sales volume: Encompass Pacific Rim Mechanical.

  • Colmac Coil Manufacturing (Colville, WA) announces it has received a Canadian Registration Number (CRN) for its design of aluminum tube ammonia coils, and that it is fully implemented in all Canadian provinces.
  • Manitowoc Co., Inc. (Manitowoc, WI), has reported first-quarter results, ended March 31, 2001, which included a net sales increase of 11.4% to $229.4 million, up from $205.9 million for the same period of 2000. Net earnings for the quarter were $9.9 million, or $0.40 per diluted share, compared with $14.9 million or $0.57 per diluted share in the first quarter of 2000.
  • A.O. Smith Corp. (Milwaukee, WI) announces first-quarter net earnings of $8.5 million or $0.36 per share on sales of $318 million, an increase of 17% from the 2000 fourth quarter. The net earning of $8.5 million exceeded fourth-quarter profits by $6 million.
  • Gorman-Rupp Co. (Mansfield, OH) has reported results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2001, with record net sales of $49,671,000, as compared to $49,024,000 in the first quarter of 2000. Net income for the first quarter of 2001 was $3,604,000 or $0.42 earnings per share, as compared to $4,100,000, or $0.48 per share for the first quarter of 2000, a decrease of $496,000, or $0.48 per share.
  • Ingersoll-Rand Co. (Woodcliff Lake, NJ) reported first-quarter results, which included its profit from operations as dropping to $81.9 million, or $0.51 per share, as compared to profit from continuing operations of $131.7 million, or $0.80 per share in 2000. Sales rose 5% to $2.1 billion from $2.02 billion in 2000. After a restructuring charge of $32.6 million, or $0.20 per share, the company had a net income of $49.3 million, or $0.31 per share.
