COUNTRY CLUB HILLS, IL — Code enforcement and fire officials, inspectors, plans examiners, architects, engineers, and others in the construction industry have a new option to develop professional skills, according to the Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc. (BOCA). The organization has introduced its Audio Virtual Seminars, which are live, instructor-led training events that use the telephone as the delivery medium.

BOCA says that the audio seminars eliminate costly travel and out-of-the-office expenses. Individuals participate in the seminar from their own offices.

Audio seminars are up to 90 min long and feature a question-and-answer session. Participants receive handouts to use as visual guides. After the seminar, participants may contact the instructor via e-mail.

Seminars are related to accessibility based on the International Codes and ICC/ANSI A117.71. Topics include “Accessibility Exceptions: When and When Not,” March 13; “Unisex Bath-rooms,” June 20; “Type A and Type B Dwellings,” Sept. 12; and “Assembly Seating,” Dec. 11. All seminars begin at 11 a.m. Central Time.

The cost to participate in an audio virtual seminar is $175 for a site connection. The only equipment needed is a speaker phone. For more information or to register, call 800-775-7654 or visit www.bocai.org/training.asp (website).
