WATERBURY, CT — MJ Daly & Sons, Inc., a leading provider of mechanical and fire protection contracting services here, has been formally acquired by Xcelecom, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of UIL Holdings Corp., New Haven, CT.

The acquisition of MJ Daly marks Xcelecom’s ninth to date as it builds a network of contracting and services companies throughout the eastern U.S. MJ Daly broadens Xcelecom’s coverage across New England, with its existing operations in Connecticut and Boston.

MJ Daly provides specialty mechanical contracting services, including fire protection, plumbing, heating, service, and pipe fabrication. The company has annual revenues topping $25 million.

Founded more than 100 years ago in 1882, it brings a long-standing reputation as a top firm within the New England region to Xcelecom. The contractor also provides a full complement of design-build services, along with a three-shift pipe fabrication shop at its Waterbury location.

“MJ Daly is truly a family organization, with many of our people’s families having been with the company for generations. That is why the leadership of the company thought long and hard about the best way to move MJ Daly into the next millennium,” says Jan Dembinski, president and ceo of Daly.

Janet Blumberg, vice president of Daly, adds, “When we were introduced to the Xcelecom concept, we knew immediately that we had found the relationship and platform that would launch MJ Daly & Sons to the next level in our long and successful history. We are excited and looking forward to all the support and additional opportunity that we believe this combination brings to both our customers and employees.”

Headquartered in Hamden, CT, Xcelecom, Inc. is a provider of specialty contracting services and voice-data-video network integrated solutions to customers in the eastern United States, from Boston to North Carolina. For more information, visit www.xcelecom.com (website).
