CALGARY, AB, Canada — BW Technologies Ltd., a Canadian manufacturer of gas detection instruments, is launching a “three-year, maintenance-free” carbon monoxide detector for commercial buildings with underground parking facilities.

According to Parking Market Research Co. in the United States, approximately 30% of commercial buildings in North America have underground parking for at least 200 vehicles. The “Toxypoint” detector can be connected to standard building control systems such as Honeywell, Johnson Controls, and Siemens, according to BW.

The company said that the Toxypoint has an electrochemical sensor, microcontrollers, and regular self-test feature. Ventilation fans are said to be activated when predetermined levels of carbon monoxide are present.

In recent months, BW has received a million-dollar blanket order from Fluke Corp. to expand its manufacturing agreement for carbon monoxide products, and has launched the GasProbe, an analyzing instrument for the hvac industry with a $700,000 initial order from the United Kingdom.
