The ComCool, Model ECU24, is an environmental control unit (ECU) designed to provide cooling for telecommunications cabinets and small shelters with high internal heat loads. The unit delivers 2 tons of cooling (24,000 Btuh), but has a smaller footprint than conventional wall-mount air conditioners, says the manufacturer. Built in two configurations, Series 30 and 34, the primary difference is the Series 34 has a factory-installed economizer that uses outside air, when acceptable, to cool the enclosure. The economizer provides energy cost savings by decreasing the operating hours of the compressor and condenser fan, the company says.
