ATLANTA, GA – At ASHRAE Forum 3 – “Gaseous Contaminants and Removal Equipment – Improving IAQ in Buildings” – covered issues regarding effective contaminant removal to maintain indoor air quality.

Some issues cited were odors and health as well as adapting chemical removal equipment to the hvac system.

One user said that there are quite a lot of products out there to remove contaminants. “We need more information to sort them out.”

“There are hundreds of chemicals in this room that you might want to control,” an engineer said. To measure all these “is an extraordinarily complex problem.”

An IAQ specialist stated that trying to get from “I smell something that stinks” to “What is that chemical?” is difficult.

Summing up this session, the moderator noted that there are a lot of issues that need further discussion.
