OMAHA, NB — The Metropolitan HVAC Association recently honored fourteen air conditioning businesses that were founding members when the organization began in 1974.

Frank Smith, president of the association, said the members were recognized for their original insight and for their continued participation and support of the organization, which aims to guide members through legal as well as business and educational issues.

The companies honored include Shannon Heating and Air Conditioning; SOS Heating and Air Conditioning, McCarthy-Hotentot-Siebler; Central Plains Distributing, Jensen-Klich Supply Co.; Four Seasons Heating and Air Conditioning; Air Conditioning Utilities; Aksarben Heating and Air Conditioning; Hosier Supply Company; Coziahr Heating and Air Conditioning, Interstate Heating and Air Conditioning; Thermal Services, Chaney Furnace; and Eccles Heating and Air Conditioning.

Nine board members preside over the association, which has 68 members in Omaha and Council Bluffs. According to the organization, it operates as the Heating and Cooling Contractors Association, also known as HACCA.

Smith, who has been with HACCA since 1990, said that the association focuses on training and recruiting of students from Metropolitan Community College, located in Omaha, and from local high schools.

Along with encouraging students to develop their skills and providing internships through members, HACCA also provides training for members’ employees in the areas of heating, air conditioning, and sheet metal.
