ACEC, UA Cope With Lives Lost

WASHINGTON, DC and NEW YORK, NY — Two more associations have reported that they lost members in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) reports that at least five member firms located in or around the World Trade Center (WTC) were affected. Three of the firms have reported fatalities.

The Washington Group located on the 91st floor of the South Tower has confirmed one fatality, and 12 others are presumed dead. Lagan Engineering, located across from the WTC, has also confirmed one fatality. Approximately 313 employees of Seabury & Smith parent company, Marsh USA, are missing and presumed dead.

The United Association (UA) is also reporting the death of four members at the WTC. Two other members, according to the UA, were injured during the attack.

The UA has set up an Emergency World Trade Center/Pentagon Assistance Program. The fund will be used to assist local union victims’ families, and the fire departments and police depart-ments in New York and Washington. To make a donation, make checks out to Emergency World Trade Center/Pentagon Assistance Program and mail them to: United Association Emergency World Trade Center/Pentagon Assistance Program, P.O.
