ARLINGTON, VA — The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) has announced a new initiative to help hvacr contracting firms minimize risks through pre-employment screening.

“ACCA contractor members are committed to safe, secure, and healthy workplaces,” said Larry Taylor, ACCA chairman and president of AirRite in Forth Worth, TX. “Because our workplaces are the commercial and residential buildings where other people live and work, we must do all we can to make sure our technicians are trusted and reliable. This is especially true in an age of heightened security concerns.”

ACCA has endorsed DAC/STA as its national partner in pre-employment screening and testing programs. DAC/STA provides pre-employment screening, including driving records, social security verification, workers’ compensation claim histories, criminal records, consumer and business credit reports, and drug and alcohol testing.

“This program gives our members one more tool to demonstrate to their customers that they are the best of the best,” said Paul T. Stalknecht, ACCA president and ceo. “Not only will a comprehensive screening program help minimize liabilities, but it enables contractors to show that they are committed to their customers’ safety and security in their homes and workplaces.”

The DAC/STA initiative is the first in a series of member programs and tools that will be introduced to ACCA members in 2002.
