WASHINGTON, DC — Pepco Energy Services, Inc., announced that it has acquired Unitemp, Inc., an hvac service company headquartered in South Plainfield, NJ, that installs, services, and repairs hvac systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional customers. Unitemp, headed by Hal Keenan, has 45 employees in its South Plainfield and Fairfield, NJ, offices. Its customers include Federal Express, Bristol Meyers Products, Cushman and Wakefield, Chase Manhattan Bank, Purolater, and Tyco.

“We are pleased to add Unitemp to the Pepco Energy Services’ team and expand our geographic reach in the Mid-Atlantic region,” commented Ed Mayberry, president and ceo, Pepco Energy Services.

The contractor joins four other companies under the umbrella of Pepco Building Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pepco Energy Services. In addition to Unitemp, the subsidiary owns Engineered Services, Chantilly and Richmond, VA; Substation Test; Forestville, MD; G&L Associates, Hyattsville, MD; and MET Electrical Testing Baltimore, MD. The combined annual revenues of these five companies are more than $30 million, according to Pepco Building Services.

“Now we are able to combine the capabilities of all of our enterprises to bring our customers a complete portfolio of mechanical, building control and electric power distribution services as well as expertise in energy efficiency and shared savings,” said Bob Aylward, president of Pepco Building Services.

“Unitemp’s customers will continue to experience the strong level of service the company has consistently provided, and now they can expect the same high standards in other infrastructure-related projects for their business,” he said.

Over the last 24 months, Pepco Energy Services was awarded nearly $800 million in energy and energy-related service contracts and has completed energy efficiency projects from Connecticut to North Carolina.
