ATLANTA, GA — Detailed information on the envelop, lighting, and mechanical sections of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning’s (ASHRAE’s) energy conservation standard will be presented in a satellite broadcast on Oct. 30, 2001 at noon Eastern time.

ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-1999, Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings, provides minimum requirements for the energy-efficient design of buildings. The broadcast, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Building Standards and Guidelines Program, is a follow-up to a 90.1 broadcast held last September, which had more than 2,000 viewers. The top comments received on the evaluation forms asked for more details and separate broadcasts for each topic area.

In October, three 75-min broadcasts, airing consecutively, will cover requirements of the standard for building envelope, mechanical, and lighting energy systems, along with a brief discussion of the scope and administrative sections. Building envelope will be addressed from noon-1:15 p.m., mechanical from 1:30-2:45 p.m., and lighting from 3-4:15 p.m.
