PEGUA, Pa. - B.G. Mellinger & Son of Strasburg, Pa., a member of the Southeast Pa. Chapter of the National Association of Oil Heating Service Managers (NAOHSM), recently spearheaded a charity project to replace the heating system of a Pennsylvania resident.

Oil Heat Cares, a not-for-profit foundation dedicated to helping customers who need assistance with their heating equipment, funded the project. The job, undertaken by B.G. Mellinger & Son, was done for Ilene Giberson. Her heating equipment was in desperate need of replacement, but she didn't have the means to purchase a new system.

On this particular project, there were a variety of challenges involved in installing the equipment. Not only did the existing boiler have to be replaced, but the utility room also needed major repairs before the new unit could be installed. Burnham Hydronics donated a new boiler to the charity effort, which left funds available for the replacement of the roof over the utility room where the unit was housed. After working through his local contacts, Carl Mellinger, service manager, found a contractor who was willing to do the roofing job at cost.
