MANCHESTER, NH — Teletrol Systems, Inc., a manufacturer of building automation systems and controllers here, announced that it is using technology from Zeus Wireless, Inc., Columbia, MD, an emerging supplier of wireless solutions, to provide hvac automation systems with wireless connectivity.

The enhanced systems package will include Zeus’ wireless technology to support Teletrol’s Integrator™ family of controllers.

Rick Desmarais, vice president of engineering at Teletrol, said, “This application is easier to install, upgrade, and maintain compared to wire lines, and decreases the immediate expense as well as the long-term cost to customers. As wireless applications become more frequent in specialized environments, we plan to integrate radio connectivity into other standard Teletrol industry applications.”

Facility control systems have largely been dictated by building design, and installation frequently requires extensive wiring, the company said. Teletrol’s system integrators recognized that Zeus’ ZLRT2100 wireless transceiver mimics the functionality of a standard RS-485 wireline connection, eliminating the need for wiring and creating a more cost-effective and versatile alternative for certain hvac control applications.

“The increasing use of wireless technologies within the hvac industry points towards a trend which will have tremendous implications for the future,” said Robin Shaffer, Global Business Development manager of energy and controls for Zeus Wireless.
