NEW YORK, NY — At the Salute to New York Festival on August 19, the City Club of New York, a nonpartisan watchdog group, honored 1st Rochdale Cooperative, Ltd., with its Environmental Business Award.

An energy cooperative serving New York City, 1st Rochdale is said to be one of the region’s fastest-growing energy services companies. It provides energy management and renewable and sustainable fuel sources, such as solar power systems, fuel cells, and microturbines.

Founded in 1997, 1st Rochdale’s roots are in the city’s cooperative housing communities, which have been engaged in bringing energy-efficiency solutions to New York. “We are honored to receive the City Club of New York’s Environmental Business Award. It is really a tribute to the entire 1st Rochdale Cooperative team,” stated Allen Thurgood, chairman and chief executive officer.
