The Tennessee Valley Authority is helping encourage the move away from HCFCs to HFCs. Making the point here (from left) are TVA’s Dale Harvey; Randy Cantrell of Cantrell Heating & Air Inc., Knoxville, TN; and Dennis Nierman of Andrews Distributing, also of Knoxville. They are shown with a Carrier heat pump that uses HFC-410A instead of HCFC-22. Several utility companies in the area supply a $200 rebate for purchase of such a unit.

Homeowners who purchase a unit through the contractor can repay the loan on their utility bill each month with a low interest rate.
