ST. LOUIS, MO — A 21st century house boat will sail this summer on a cancer awareness tour and hvac manufacturer Unico, Inc., headquartered here, is participating in this unique fundraising project.

Called “Jan’s House of Hope,” it is a 3,100-sq-ft home furnished and decorated by Home Magazine with a health and well-being theme. The house will be placed on a seagoing barge that will travel to ports of call between New Hampshire and Virginia from June 1 through July 29.

Scott Intagliata, marketing director of Unico, manufacturer of a high-velocity mini-duct heating and cooling system, said that its system has been donated to condition the house.

“With more than 8 million living Americans with a history of cancer, Unico understands the importance of raising cancer awareness in our society,” he said.

Promoters estimate that the house will raise $10 million for community cancer awareness and hospice programs through public tours, events such as VIP parties, and the auctioning of the house at the end of the tour.
