CYPRESS, CA — Mitsubishi Electric HVAC is doing something different. Instead of a price increase, it announced price reductions on 13 models of its Mr. Slim® line of ductless air conditioners.

The price cuts to distributors and contractors, which take effect immediately, average 10.7% on models that make up 83% of the market in the United States, said the manufacturer.

“We anticipate that these discounts will encourage more people to move from window-mounted units to ductless air conditioning,” said Craig Little, vice president of Sales and Marketing. “Our goal is to convert 10% of the 6 million window unit sales each year to quiet, efficient ductless models. That would be a huge increase for our industry.”

“This is the third year in a row we’ve been able to reduce the cost of Mr. Slim units,” added Chuck Applebee, Mr. Slim product manager.
