COLUMBIA, SC — South Carolina Electric & Gas Co. (SCE&G) has signed a $11.5 million contract with the Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort, SC, to replace the heating and cooling systems in family housing at the base.

The construction project will be undertaken by SCE&G’s Federal Energy Services Group and will involve the installation of geothermal heat pumps and desuperheaters in 1,236 residential homes located on the government base.

Neville Lorick, SCE&G president and chief operating officer said, “We’re pleased that SCE&G received the bid to provide the Marine Corps with state-of-the-art energy conservation equipment to meet the government’s conservation policy requirements under the Energy Policy Act. We have begun preliminary work on the project and expect it to be completed by the end of 2001.”
