BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Thomas J. Malott has been appointed interim president and ceo of Siemens Building Technologies (SBT), Inc., succeeding John Grad, who resigned recently to pursue other interests.

Malott will be responsible for all of SBT’s operations and activities in the United States. One of the world’s leading suppliers of safety, security, and energy-efficiency technologies to commercial buildings and other non-residential facilities, SBT recorded nearly $1 billion in revenue last fiscal year in the U.S.

“Siemens Building Technologies has evolved into an outstanding organization and I can think of no one better to lead it at this time than Tom Malott,” said Oskar K. Ronner, president and ceo of the Siemens Building Technologies Group, parent company of SBT, based in Zurich, Switzerland. “Tom will help to insure that SBT continues to set the industry’s benchmark for customer service and satisfaction.”

Malott most recently completed 10 years as president and ceo of Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. During this time he more than doubled the company’s sales, greatly diversified its product line, and grew employment by nearly 4,000 workers. He continues to serve Siemens Energy and Automation as vice chairman on its board of directors.
