McLEAN, VA — North American Technician Excellence (NATE) recently held its Certified Technician Olympics (CTO) in Nashville, TN. CTO contestants are high-scoring NATE-certified technicians who compete to determine who is the “Top Technician.”

The technicians compete in four timed events. Each technician has 20 minutes to correctly diagnose and suggest corrective action for the problem.

The CTO winner for 2001 is Dean Gunther of Gunther’s Comfort Air in American Fork, UT. Other candidates were Jeffrey Demme (Demme’s Mechanical Inspections, Drumore, PA), Kenneth Fuller (Industrial Building Services, Ft. Lauderdale, FL), Jeffrey Weaver (S.R. Weaver Furnace Company, Columbus, OH), Timothy Bruce (General Air Conditioning Inc., San Antonio, TX), Christopher Hennighan (Correct Temp of Carolina Inc., West Columbia, SC), and Grant Newhouse (Five Seasons Indoor Air Service, Niagara Falls, ON, Canada).
