MISSISSAUGA, Ontario - Ductless split system shipments showed the largest gain during this year's second quarter, increasing by 167 percent. All other sectors showed decreases, including chiller bookings by 18 percent, residential air conditioning shipments by 5 percent, residential furnace shipments by 2 percent, unit heater shipments by 1 percent, and commercial air conditioning shipments by less than 1 percent as compared to second quarter 2005.

  • Year-to-date shipments of commercial air conditioning units increased by 9 percent, from 19,250 for the second quarter 2005 to 20,922 for the second quarter 2006.

  • Residential air conditioning shipments decreased 5 percent from 117,865 in the second quarter of 2005 to 112,090 in the second quarter of 2006. Year-to-date shipments increased by 12 percent, from 162,998 for the second quarter 2005 to 182,711 for the second quarter 2006.

  • Residential furnace shipments decreased 2 percent from 58,898 in the second quarter of 2005 to 57,483 in the second quarter of 2006. Year-to-date shipments decreased by less than 1 percent, from 114,376 for the second quarter 2005 to 114,322 for the second quarter 2006.

  • Unit heater shipments decreased by 1 percent from 8,443 in the second quarter of 2005 to 8,378 in the second quarter of 2006. Year-to-date shipments increased by 7 percent, from 15,929 for the second quarter 2005 to 17,119 for the second quarter 2006.

  • Ductless split system shipments increased by 167 percent from 10,302 in the second quarter of 2005 to 27,483 in the second quarter of 2006. Year-to-date shipments increased by 128 percent, from 16,397 for the second quarter 2005 to 37,359 for the second quarter 2006.

  • Chiller bookings decreased 18 percent from 206 in the second quarter of 2005 to 169 in the second quarter of 2006. Year-to-date shipments decreased by 11 percent, from 461 for the second quarter 2005 to 408 for the second quarter 2006.
