FORT SMITH, Ark. - The Rheem Classic board of directors presented a check during its annual Charity Check Presentation Luncheon announcing that the 2006 charity tournament exceeded its fundraising goals resulting in a contribution approaching a quarter of a million dollars. The organization distributed $200,000 to 23 charities that partnered with the 2006 tournament, providing volunteer support. The 2006 fundraising performance pushed the nine-year Fort Smith tournament total charitable contributions to 1.1 million dollars.

"The motto of the 2006 Rheem Classic was Reach for a Million as we aimed to reach a million dollars in total contributions to charity and more importantly, to change the lives of a million people," said Lisa Baker, tournament director. "I am so proud to report that we met and surpassed this goal."

"This tournament has been so successful because of this community," said Baker. "Our sponsors and volunteers are the lifeblood of the Rheem Classic. They give so generously to make certain that this tournament is one of the best on the Nationwide Tour every year."
