MEMPHIS, Tenn. — American Residential Services (ARS), a Memphis, Tennessee-based, privately-held national provider of air conditioning, heating and plumbing services, announced the appointment of Luis Orbegoso to the position of president and chief operating officer of ARS/Rescue Rooter.

Orbegoso has an extensive background in consumer services; he previously served as president of ADT Business, where he was responsible for developing and executing the company's strategy to grow the security and automation segment serving small and mid-sized business owners. During his tenure at ADT, Orbegoso established a standalone division within the company, introduced new products and services, and optimized distribution channels, which led to significant topline growth and margin expansion.

Prior to ADT, Orbegoso was at United Technologies Corp. (UTC), where he served as president of the global detection and alarm businesses, which included the prominent Edwards brand, a fire detection, alarm, and emergency communications solution. He also served as the president of Lenel Systems Intl. Inc., a development and delivery company of scalable, integrated security systems for the commercial, industrial, and institutional markets with more than 20,000 system implementations in over 90 countries. Prior to joining UTC in 2008, he spent 13 years with General Electric in a variety of leadership roles, culminating in his post as chief marketing officer of GE Equipment Services. He holds a bachelor’s from the University of Cincinnati and an master’s from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.

ARS selected Orbegoso due to his strong leadership skills, as well as his business acumen and diverse experience, including services, manufacturing, software, medical technology, highly commoditized industries, and regulated environments. Orbegoso immigrated to the U.S. nearly 30 years ago from Lima, Peru, and has demonstrated success at every step along his career path.

"We believe it is our duty to partner with experienced leaders like Luis who will respect our people, and all that has been accomplished during our first 10 years, while at the same time propelling the company forward with new and fresh ideas," says Dave Slott, co-chief executive officer at ARS/Rescue Rooter. "We went to great lengths to source and select someone we feel has not only the competence to excel but also someone who has a servant's heart for everyone."
