ORLANDO, Fla. — General Electric proudly showcased its revamped line of packaged terminal air conditioner (PTAC) units to an intimate audience Tuesday evening at Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse in Orlando.

Mark Evans, executive product manager - air products for GE, said the company moved production of the redesigned units from China to GE’s headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky, creating more than 80 new jobs and reducing lead time from 14-plus weeks to just 2-3 weeks. The units feature increased energy efficiency, improved appearance, improved accessibility, and decreased noise.

“One of the things you’ll see is there’s a huge amount of passion about what we are doing,” Evans said. “We are excited we get the opportunity to do this.”

The redesigned units have been accessible by a select market and will become available to the public in April. For more information, visit www.ge.com.
