Johnson Controls Inc. recently donated and installed 18 York heating and cooling systems in homes across the country for Building Homes for Heroes.

Building Homes for Heroes is a nonprofit, public charity committed to constructing and renovating homes in support of military men and women injured in the line of duty.

“Our mission is to make sure wounded men and women who bravely served and sacrificed for the U.S. receive the highest level of appreciation we can provide,” said Andy Pujol, president and founder of Building Homes for Heroes. “We gift homes and other assistance to veterans in order to provide them a better tomorrow and some financial freedom that lets them focus on rehabilitation and their families.”

Building Homes for Heroes gifted more than 25 homes in 2014 and expects to work on 30 homes nationwide in 2015 with the help of corporate partnerships, volunteers, and donations. York contractors who donated their services for Veterans Day celebrations included George Brazil, Phoenix; Air Supply Heating and Air Conditioning, Las Vegas; and Comfort Experts USA, Palm Bay, Florida.

“What better way for us, as a company, to live out our commitment to the communities where we live and work than by supporting the brave men and women who made tremendous sacrifices on our behalf to protect our way of life in these same communities,” said Liz Haggerty, vice president and general manager, unitary products group, Johnson Controls.
