ST. LOUIS — Educational Services, a business unit of Emerson Climate Services LLC, a business of Emerson, has announced the introduction of the Copeland™ Technical Specialist Program, a five-stage program designed to establish Copeland product experts within wholesale branches to better serve contractor customers.

“In a recent survey about their training needs, wholesaler technical specialists told us that to better serve their customers they needed to know more about Copeland products, especially with the advent of digital controls and diagnostics,” said Larry Banas, director of educational services, Emerson Climate Technologies. “Technology has changed the way compressors and condensing units are used and serviced, and the technical specialist at the wholesaler wants to be the go-to expert for contractors when they have questions or service needs.

“We saw establishing the new Copeland Technical Specialist Program as an opportunity to create a win for everyone concerned,” he said. “The technical specialist raises his or her level of expertise in regard to Copeland products, which benefits both the contractor customers and the wholesale organizations for which they work. Specialists who complete the program will be industry-recognized technical representatives for Copeland products.”

The new five-stage program requires candidates to:

• Pass an online Fundamentals of Refrigeration course;

• Pass a prequalification exam;

• Have already attended a Compressor Operation and Service Seminar program;

• Attend a week-long Copeland Technical Specialist Class at the company training center in Sidney, Ohio; and

• Attend monthly continuing education WebEx™ meetings following graduation.

“The responsibilities that come with being a Copeland Technical Specialist include providing contractors and wholesaler personnel support on all Copeland compressors, condensing units, and onboard electronics,” Banas continued. “A specialist must be readily available to support field issues and answer technical questions about Copeland products at the wholesaler counter, by phone or, if warranted, in the field.”

Two Copeland Technical Specialists Program classes have been scheduled for the first quarter of 2015:

• March 2-16

• March 23-27
