ARLINGTON, Va. — ACCA has announced that it is now accepting applications for its 2014 Safety Excellence Award sponsored by Federated Insurance. The association said the award is a way to recognize contractor member companies that have made a significant commitment to safety as an integral part of their philosophy. These companies have implemented safety programs designed to protect their employees and the public while reducing their annual workers compensation rates and the costs related to accidents.

The award has been divided into three categories designed to provide an opportunity for small contractors, mid-sized contractors, and large contractors to compete.

“Many ACCA member companies are investing their time and money in safety programs to ensure that their team members have safe and healthy work environments,” said Paul T. Stalknecht, ACCA president and CEO. “We are recognizing these companies, because they are setting an example of how all contractors should run their businesses, because it not only creates a better work environment, but also saves the company money in reduced insurance premiums and accident costs. We are thankful our partners at Federated Insurance are supporting ACCA in recognizing these contractors by sponsoring this award.”

“Federated is proud to again be sponsoring ACCA’s Safety Excellence Award, which recognizes members’ commitment to providing a safe working environment for their valued employees,” said Scott Warren, director of association risk management services for Federated. “We encourage all ACCA members to apply for this award and to continue to include risk management and safety programs as a key component of their business plans.”

ACCA member companies wishing to apply for the award can download the application at www.acca.org/issues/safety/. Applications are due April 30, 2014.

The winners will be announced no later than July 31, 2014, and will be recognized at the ACCA 2015 conference taking place March 16-19, 2015, at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, Texas.
