WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has officially published a request for information (RFI) in the Federal Register regarding efficiency test procedures for commercial boilers. The rulemaking on these test procedures will be carried out in parallel with the rulemaking on efficiency standards for commercial boilers. The RFI notes that DOE will consider amendments that focus on two main areas: 1) addition of part-load test conditions and measurements to more accurately reflect the use of modulating burner technology; and 2) modification of testing conditions, such as temperatures and pressures.

A review and comment period for this RFI is now open. For more information, click here.

The deadline for submitting comments is March 24, 2014.
