OAKLAND, Calif., and VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Lucid and Rainforest Automation have jointly announced the availability of an integrated, plug-and-play solution for monitoring real-time smart meter data. Lucid customers can now connect Rainforest’s ZigBee-enabled wireless gateway device with Lucid’s BuildingOS® to gain visibility into energy consumption and supply facility managers with easy-to-use analytics tools.

Rainforest Automation said its EAGLE™ Energy Access Gateway is a simple, affordable device that communicates directly with smart meters that have been equipped with ZigBee wireless capability. With plug-and-play installation, it is able to stream real-time data over the Internet to BuildingOS in minutes.

“If you have a ZigBee-enabled smart meter, you no longer have to open your breaker panel or hire an electrician to install clamp-on devices to monitor your facility’s energy consumption,” said Chris Tumpach, president of Rainforest Automation. “The EAGLE gets your data wirelessly, directly from your smart meter, and delivers it instantly to BuildingOS.”

Lucid and Rainforest have already started deployments in the territory of utility SDG&E with K-12 schools, and both are working in close collaboration to expand to other utility districts.

Lucid said BuildingOS unifies utility meter data, sub-meter data, building controls data, and other building metrics into a central repository with a single login, and provides a complete set of advanced energy management tools.

“The complexity and cost of getting access to energy information are two of the main barriers to evaluating and deploying energy efficiency today,” said Vladi Shunturov, CEO of Lucid. “The combination of BuildingOS and Rainforest Automation’s EAGLE eliminates those barriers for facilities with compatible smart meters.”
