ROCKVILLE, Md. — Tim Wentz, educator and recipient of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America’s (MCAA’s) Distinguished Service Award, was elected ASHRAE’s treasurer for 2014-2015 during the ASHRAE 2014 Winter Conference. He will automatically become the association’s president-elect in 2015-2016 and will assume the ASHRAE presidency in 2016-2017, the first mechanical contractor to serve in that role.

A fourth-generation union mechanical contractor, he worked in the industry for 19 years before becoming an associate professor of construction management at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, a post he has held for 20 years. He is the faculty advisor for the MCAA student chapter at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, which is sponsored by the MCA of Omaha (MCAO), and serves on the faculty of MCAA’s Institute for Project Management (IPM) and National Education Initiative (NEI). In addition, he has presented at numerous mid-year conferences, workshops, and seminars on behalf of MCAA.

A three-time winner of MCAA’s Educator of the Year Award (2000, 2002, and 2004), he also served on the Mechanical Contracting Education and Research Foundation (MCERF) board of trustees. In 2009, he was awarded MCAA’s highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award.

“Receiving the Distinguished Service Award from MCAA was one of the most thrilling and humbling experiences of my life,” said Wentz. “It was humbling because I have had the great fortune to be surrounded by a lot of very talented people working very hard to make their organization successful. So it is also with the treasurer’s nomination by ASHRAE. I think the nomination is a testimony of the strength and success of the MCAO and the MCAA.”
